The Foundation

At Lieverd ik ben Thuis, we believe that a meaningful life doesn’t happen by accident.

It’s built: slowly, intentionally, and with care.

We believe that true strength is found in restraint. That ego is easy, but presence is powerful. That the real legacy you leave behind isn't your achievements, it's the life you built for others to stand on.

Before you build a house, you build a home within yourself. Before you start a family, you become the kind of person someone would trust with theirs.

We exist to support that journey.

Through the clothes you wear, the values you carry, and the life you quietly build.

"Lay the foundation for a life your children will cherish".

the story

Take a minute to read this, so you understand what you just became part of. Or like we’d say back home in The Hague…. ga zittè en luistâh effe.

Hi, I am Koen and I started Lieverd ik ben Thuis because I got tired of clothing brands with no story. No roots. Built on fast fashion and mass production somewhere on the other side of the world. I’m 22 as I’m writing this, and I see in myself… and in the people around me, a generation that’s more lost than ever. Even though the world sits in our hands, more and more of us are burnt out, addicted, chasing things that don’t REALLY matter.

Money. Status. Distraction.

In my eyes the fashion world shows it perfectly. The average person basically buys a new wardrobe every year. Sometimes because the quality sucks, sometimes because we just stopped caring. Either way, in my eyes it comes from the same problem: distance.

Distance from the people who make our clothes. And distance from each other. Not in kilometers… but in how we live. Constantly on our phones and barely talking.. even during a nice family dinner. And exactly that’s why I started Lieverd ik ben Thuis. To make family popular again. To bring back intention. To make clothes that come from nearby (The Netherlands), not from somewhere faceless and far away. And most of all... to be proud of where you came from and where you are going.

As you may know.. Lieverd ik ben Thuis directly translates to: Honey i’m homeeee!!! A sentence that my mom and dad used to shout trough our hallway when they smashed the door behind them after a long and hard day of work. It’s a sentence i hold dear very much.

To me, this isn’t just a brand. It’s an ongoing journey of my life (and now hopefully yours) to becoming the best version of ourselves. To build that clarity, that intentional live for the people to come.

It’s a reminder to slow down, to care again, and to build something that lasts. Not just for yourself but for your kids or partner to come. Lieverd ik ben Thuis is a commitment and promise to our future selves.

If you’ve read till the very last sentence, just know i appreciate you more than you can imagine.

Liefs,

Koen

"Lee-verd ick ben t-house"

Here’s the breakdown:

  • "Lieverd" sounds like "Lee-verd," with a slight emphasis on the "Lee." This is a Dutch term of endearment, similar to saying "Sweetheart" or "Dear."
  • "ik ben" translates to "I am" in English and is pronounced like "ick ben."
  • "Thuis" means "home" and is pronounced "t-house," with a soft "t."
